Hilfspakete für Menschen in der Ukraine — Help provides emergency assistance for those affected by the war in Ukraine.

Whether after a natural disaster or in humanitarian emergencies: Most humanitarian projects occur without prior notice. The extent of a disaster can hardly be estimated at the beginning. How great is the need? How strong does our team need to be? What do people need most urgently - and how can we organize the reponse strategically and most effectively? Experienced humanitarian workers with knowledge of the respective country, language and culture are then needed. They know the country and its people best and are in a position to initiate initial emergency assistance measures.

Help provides emergency assistance worldwide. We can draw on over 40 years of experience in international humanitarian assistance and have a large network of local partner organizations. Together, we can respond quickly to the needs of those affected.

Earthquake in Myanmar

In March 2025, Myanmar and Thailand were hit by a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7. In Myanmar in particular, the extent of the destruction is enormous, with over 3,000 people losing their lives. Even before the disaster, the situation in Myanmar was difficult due to the ongoing civil war. Together with local partners, Help is providing emergency assistance and supplying those affected by the earthquake with drinking water, food, medical aid and emergency shelters.

Escalation of violence in the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has been the scene of bloody conflicts for years. In the fall of 2023, the situation in the east of the country escalated once again, forcing hundreds of thousands to flee. Almost 7 million people are currently displaced within the country. The country urgently needs support to overcome this humanitarian crisis.

Escalation of the Middle East conflict

On October 7, 2023, the humanitarian emergency in the Middle East escalated. In the Gaza Strip alone, around 2 million people are helplessly exposed to the fighting, including many children. Together with local partners, Help is providing assistance to Palestinian families as well as affected families in Lebanon and Syria.

Since the escalation of the war in February 2022, Help has been helping families in Ukraine to cope with the consequences of the war. We distribute relief supplies and financial assistance, provide medical and psychological support and repair damaged infrastructure.

Fast, effective and local

Help Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe in Nepal — Immediately after the earthquake, Help became active in Nepal with extensive emergency assistance measures.

In the event of a disaster, Help responds immediately. In close cooperation with our alliance partners from Aktion Deutschland Hilft and local partner organizations, we coordinate our projects to find the most effective measures.

We provide those affected with food, water, hygiene articles and tools as required - effectively and unbureaucratically: the focus is on people. Help acts quickly and efficiently in acute emergency situations.

In most cases, our emergency assistance turns into long-term relief measures. In line with our principle of helping people to help themselves, we empower them to actively improve their living conditions. We accompany them until they are able to provide for themselves again.

Persistent monsoon rains caused severe flooding in Bangladesh at the end of August 2024. Over 5.7 million people were affected. Together with our local partner, we provided emergency assistance on the ground.
